DEFCAD has made a nearly fully 3d printed pistol (uses one or two metal parts) that works. The pistol apparently fires the .380 round and actually functions.
So, a round of applause for them for building a complicated device such as a pistol that works without exploding.
Oh, and apparently the Government has told them they can’t let people download the files. You know that thing about how ideas are legal, it’s just doing them that may not be?
Well, so much for that idea*. Next, they’ll probably tell Ragnar Benson that his books can’t be sold because they contain stuff that may be illegal to follow.
Well, the pistol would be cool to make, if just for bragging rights that you printed your own pistol. That is, assuming you have the $10,000 to $20,000 for the 3D printer they used. A new one with similar capabilities and precision is even more expensive.
*As if. Don’t bother with the DEFCAD site though at the moment, their servers seem to be very near capacity, it took me several tries to view their website.
