Weekend Wishlist July 13

I must admit, as far as unexpected surprises go, the weekend wishlist gimmick articles seem to be popular, and I wish I knew why.

Because of that though, and the fact that the wishlist is getting into the interesting guns section, I am pleased to present probably my favorite gun of all: the Solothurn S-18/1100. For anyone not familiar with the Solothurn designs, the 100 was the smaller gun, the 1000 was the larger 20mm gun, and the 1100 was the select fire version of the 1000, for when your anti-tank gun needs to double as an anti-air gun.

Admittedly, I am biased towards the 1100 since when I decided to go look up machining diagrams for the guns, the 1100 was the only one I could find.

But let’s get some flickr links in first:

Functionally, the difference between the 1000 and the 1100 is the addition of a fire selector on the 1100, but lacking the mechanical drawings of the 1000, I cannot comment on any internal differences.

Now, let’s be honest: who doesn’t want a rifle that instead of having a bipod has a wheeled mount with recoil spades that fold up so it can be towed behind things like a car or bicycle? getting to the range, pulling your gun behind you, then unfolding recoil spades so the gun doesn’t simply scoot you around when its shot would be fun.

Honestly, someone needs to make that wheeled mount for 12.7x99mm rifles or Anzio should release one as an option for their 12.7x99mm, .50/20mm, and 20mm rifles. if I had the money and they offered it, I would be calling them up just to say ‘take my money now.’
